Adult Basic Reading
Welcome to The Reading People's Adult Basic Reading support services. We want to help you learn how to read and write better in English, no matter how old you are. Our program is free and offers tutoring where it's just you and the tutor. We also give tests to find out how well you can read and speak English. This helps us find the best tutor for you.

A tutor is someone who helps you learn new things. They are like a teacher who works with you individually to help you get better at reading, writing, and other subjects. A tutor can answer your questions, explain things to you, and give you extra practice so you can improve your skills. They are there to support you and help you succeed in your learning journey.

Highlights of the Adult Basic Reading Program
All the help we offer for basic reading is FREE.

One-on-One Tutoring: You'll have a special tutor who works with only you. They will help you read and write better. They'll teach you new words, help you understand things, and help you talk to others.

Reading Assessment: We will give you a test to see how well you can read. It will take about one hour and you can choose a time that works for you. You'll take the test at our CALC office from Monday to Thursday, between 9 AM and 5 PM.

Matching with a Tutor: After the test, we will find a tutor who can help you. You and the tutor will decide when and where to meet. You can meet in person or online. If you have more free time, we can find a tutor for you faster.
