Adults seeking employment or job advancement need to have a high school diploma or the G.E.D. in order to compete in the present job market.

Adults who wish to pass the G.E.D. tests are interviewed and assessed to learn if they have sufficient levels of literacy to enter the G.E.D. program. The G.E.D. tests include: math, social studies, science, reading and writing. If a student is not ready for the program, she or he may enroll in our Pre G.E.D. program.

The Capital Area Literacy Coalition has manuals, practice tests and computer programs to help students prepare for the various tests. Small classes are provided in math and writing. Individual tutoring is available.
